KONRAD ZUSEA computer revolution in our century.German engineer and inventor Konrad Zuse sets a historical milestone in computer technology. The program-controlled computing system “Zuse Z3” revolutionises the world. He developed the method of computer-compatible floating-point numbers based on mantissa and exponent components. Today every normal computer computes using this floating-point figure method - from pocket calculators to clusters. He made research history with the development and construction of his first computers (Z1 - Z4). During the period 1941-1945, Zuse developed the first universal programming language in the world (PLANKALKUEL). Implementation on the computers of that time was not successful until 2000. The Z4 was completed in 1949 and installed in Zurich. At that time, it was the only functioning computer in Europe and the first commercial computer worldwide. He built further computer systems using the model symbol Z and consecutive numbers: Z11, intended for the optical industry and universities, and Z22, the first computer with magnetic storage, were the outstanding products of the Z series. | |
